Pearls are very popular during the Christmas season, and during a slow economy, pearls are an affordable luxury. To help you pick out the perfect pearl necklace, earrings or bracelet, here’s some quick facts about pearls that you’ll need to know:
- What is a cultured pearl? Because of the rare nature of natural pearls, cultured pearls are basically “helped” to begin the process of becoming a pearl. In nature a pearl begins forming when a grain of sand, dirt, etc. finds it’s way into an oyster. To speed things up, a cultured pearl is created by inserting a tiny bead into the oyster manually. You get the same beautiful, natural result with a little less wait.
- What color are pearls? Pearls come in a variety of colors including white, cream, black, pink and yellow.
- What shapes are pearls? Pearls come in a variety of natural shape, the rarest (and most expensive) of which is round. You’ll also found pearls in teardrop shapes, oval shapes and slightly off-round.
- How do I care for pearl jewelry? Keep your pearl jewelry away from harsh chemicals such as household cleaning solutions, perfume and hairspray. Pearls have a relatively soft surface, so you should store your pearl jewelry separately from other jewelry to avoid scratching your pearl jewelry. You can clean your pearl with a soft cloth. If needed you can dampen the cloth, but make sure you allow the pearls to dry before storing them if using a dampened cloth.

Many teens are holding true to their beliefs and proudly wearing Purity Rings to show their commitment to abstinence until marriage. Many parents purchase purity rings for their children, and church youth groups often give purity rings as gifts upon completion of special religious ceremonies or classes.
Purity rings are typically worn on the ring finger, meant to only be removed upon marriage/engagement. Purity rings serve as a constant reminder of your pledge to remain pure. True Love Waits rings are one popular style, although purity rings vary greatly in style.

If there’s one accessory that can literally change your outfit entirely, it is earrings. So if you are looking to make a big splash with little cash, adding the right earrings to your ensemble can make all the difference.
Add some sparkling crystal or CZ chandelier earrings to instantly dress up your work clothes for a night out. Some classic pearl earrings can make even jeans look elegant.
For the most flexibility for your money, owning a key set of what I like to call “everything earrings” is critical. These are the earrings that no matter what you have on, they will perfectly compliment it. Spending a little extra on these earrings will pay off. Good picks would be studs featuring your birthstone or another gemstone that you feel great wearing. Black onyx is both elegant and classic, and will look great with everything from jeans to an evening gown. Also make sure you have some classic sterling silver hoops or other sterling silver dangle earrings. You’ll find that these will match perfectly with just about everything, too.

The traditional November birthstone is citrine, which is also the gemstone for the 13th anniversary. This beautiful yellow gemstone is thought to increase creativity and feelings of joy. Citrine adds a splash of color to your outfit, and makes a great gift not only for November birthdays, but also to symbolize hope and strength.

Rings make the perfect gift for just about everyone, but sometimes I’m just clueless when it comes to the gift recipient’s ring size. Honestly, sometimes I’m fairly clueless about my own ring size, since it changes in winter vs. summer, and I’m never really certain which finger on which I will wear the ring.
The solution: Adjustable rings! Typically you could only find fashion rings in an adjustable size, but since sterling silver is a relatively “soft” metal, designers have realized that creating sterling silver adjustable rings is easy and sure to last longer.

Sapphire is the traditional birthstone of September, making it a popular birthday gift this month. Additionally, Sapphire is the gemstone for the 45th anniversary.
You are probably most familiar with blue sapphire, though it is available in variety of colors, including pink and yellow. Sapphire stones are available in virtually every price range. For example, our Sapphire jewelry ranges from around $8 to $200 depending on the size of stone, metal type, etc.
Sapphire stones look stunning set in sterling silver and white gold. A truly timeless stone, sapphire jewelry makes a great gift that she will cherish for years to come.

With this season’s bright colors, it can be difficult to figure out which colors are complimentary, and which you shouldn’t mix. Luckily, I found this great color wheel from Real Simple online. Just go to this link to download the color wheel from the Real Simple website.
Choose colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, or right next to. Stay within the same color (yellow with yellow) or mix with neutrals if you want to play it safe.
Check out some of this season’s hottest colored accessories below:

Ever wonder what kind of earring will compliment your face the most? I’ve compiled a quick guide on choosing your earring length and style based on the shape of your face:
Oval face: You can wear almost any earring style. Hoops are often the most flattering.
Round face: Choose longer earrings with oblong or straight styles. Earrings with sharp angles balance the curves of the face. Teardrops also flatter round faces.
Square face: Hoops, ovals and small earrings look best. Avoid wearing short and chunky earrings because they make the face appear wider.
Also keep in mind your overall body type: While larger earrings might look great on a taller person, they will not be as flattering on someone with a petite build.

Fall is almost here, and we here at Charming Chick have been busy adding some of fall’s hottest jewelry to our collection of fashion jewelry. So that you can get ready for back to school, and start building your fall wardrobe, here’s a quick list of some of the hottest jewelry trends for this fall:
1. Big and bold: wide bangles, bold colors, and big beads
2. Asymmetrical and random: not everything has to be perfectly symmetrical about your wardrobe, so have a little fun
3. Keep it natural: The summer trend for natural materials continues into the fall
4. Orange: We saw orange grow in popularity this summer, but it’s definitely continuing into the fall, just a little darker shade
