  • Wedding Love Letter Ceremony

Posted on April 4, 2011 by Christie

Wedding Love Letter Ceremony Box Set

If you want to add something to your wedding that is special, deeply meaningful, and will serve as a constant reminder of your love and committment for years to come -- then a Wedding Love Letter Box, might be just what you have been searching for. It is used in a ceremony, which is performed either during your wedding, or sometimes at the reception. Couples who choose the Love Letter ceremony, do so because of it's very personal and romantic nature.

What is a Wedding Love Letter Ceremony?

Before the Wedding the bride and groom write love letters to one another. These letters lovingly express all of the things they adore about each other, and why they are choosing them - above all others - to spend the rest of their life with. The box set includes elegant stationary for the bride and groom to write their special messages. The letters are then placed in the envelopes and sealed. They are later exchanged during the Love Letter Ceremony -- but not opened at that time.

Wedding Love Letter Box can be Personalized
with your names and Wedding Date

Here is some sample wording for the Wedding Letter Ceremony, which I found on the Things Festive Wedding Blog:

    Sample Wording for the Ceremony

Officiant: _____ and _____ have chosen as a couple to perform a Love Letter ceremony.
This box contains a bottle of wine (or whatever beverage), two glasses, and a love letter from each to the other.   The letters describe the good qualities they find in one another, the reasons they fell in love, and their reasons for choosing to marry.   The letters are sealed in individual envelopes and they have not seen what the other has written.

I recommend that you keep the box in a place of honor prominently displayed in your home as a constant reminder of your commitment to each other.

Officiant: _____ and _____ should you ever find your marriage enduring insurmountable hardships, you are to as a couple, open this box, sit and drink the wine (or other beverage) together, then separate and read the letters you wrote to one another when you were united as a couple in marriage.   By reading these love letters you will reflect upon the reasons you fell in love and chose to marry each other here today.

The hope is, however, that you will never have a reason to open this box.   And if this is the case, you are to open this box to share and enjoy on your 5th wedding anniversary!

Officiant: _____ and _____, you may now lock the box.

It is important for couples to display their Love Letter Box in a place where they will see it everyday. This is a constant reminder of their deep love and devotion to one another. During this time, if they ever hit a rough patch - or a time when they doubt their love for one another - they should open the box, share the wine (or beverage that is in the box) and finally open the letters. If the couple doesn't find that they need to open the letters sooner than the 5th anniversary is the traditional time to do. Of course, this is up to the couple and they can wait even longer if they wish.
