  • Sock T Pus Plush Octopus Sock Baby Gift

Are you looking for a cute baby shower gift? Mr. Sock T Pus and Mrs. Sock T Pus are a great way to give something practical (4 pairs of socks with slip-proof bottoms) and something fun - a soft plush octopus with polka dots, a head that rattles and eight sock-covered, crinkly fun tentacles.

    Mr. Sock T Pus

Mr Sock T Pus Mr Sock T Pus

Mr. Sock T Pus is blue and has socks in shades of purple, yellow, blue, green, gray and white in polka dot, striped and argyle patterns.

    Mrs. Sock T Pus

Mrs Sock T Pus Mrs Sock T Pus

Mrs. Sock T Pus is pink and comes with polka dot, striped and argyle socks in shades of pink, purple, red, white, green and gray.

No matter which you choose, you can be confident you've selected a gift that both baby and mom will delight in. Here's what other gift givers like you have said:

Love that the socks can easily be replaced. My toddler class loves this and so do the parents!

Sock-t-pus is my daughter's favorite toy. We take it everywhere, doctors offices, car rides, sleeping. It's soft, about as big as the baby and has a bell inside so it catches her attention when it jingles.

This thing is so cute. It's a little bigger than I expected, but that's actually a good thing. The socks are soft and very cute. I gave it as a baby shower gift and everyone awed over it when it was pulled out of the bag!

My baby received a sock t pus as a gift, over the months it became a favorite toy that got us through Dr. appts, the dentist, sleep training etc etc. We were worried that the original might get lost so we picked up a new sock t pus to keep in the car the old sock t pus lives in the crib. It made a first time in daycare ok (no separation anxiety for a 10 month old is pretty good) And to mention this octopus is super cute, we left the socks on the new octopus since they no longer fit the kid and I hear lots of comments on just how cute it is.
The baby's first birthday is coming up and we based the whole party around Mrs. Sock-T-Pus. invites, cake, decorations. That is how important the octopus is in our family.

So, if you're looking for a great baby shower gift, you can't go wrong with Mr. or Mrs. Sock T Pus, the sock-covered octopus couple!

We have one more week of NFL division playoffs, then we will know who will be in this year's Super Bowl. This year the Super Bowl game will be played on Sunday, February 3rd. If you are like millions of Americans, you look forward to the big game and perhaps even plan a festive party so you can enjoy the Super Bowl game, friends, family and food on the day of the big game. Today on the CharmingChick blog, we are going to give you some tips and inspirations so you can make your Super Bowl party a smashing success.

Planning the perfect Super Bowl party doesn't have to involve great expense or super fancy decor -- though it certainly can if you wish. The most important thing is to invite people you enjoy being around (a love for football is not a requirement). Then you'll want munchies, chips, dips, veggies, hot dogs, pizza, or any other crowd pleasing favorites. You definitely don't want anything too awkward to hold in one hand -- and cheer with the other. If you will have alcohol at your party, please make sure everyone drinks responsibly and those drinking should have a designated driver to get them home safely.

If you ask my children, any food is better on a stick. I stumbled upon this delicious looking appetizer. It looks fancy but take a look at the recipe on the blog Big Girls Small Kitchen. It's really simple and your guests will definitely be "Wowed"! Make up some of these with delicious meatballs and some Lil' Smokies wrapped with bacon or dough.

Football decor is also fun. I love the idea pictured above that I found on the Amina Michele blog. Forget the stuffy table cloth, use some turf and white tape to make festive football field that will showcase your delicious Super Bowl goodies! Such a simple idea but it will leave a lasting impression on your gifts -- and maybe become a yearly tradition!

One other fun activity that I'd like to mention is a Football Pickem. You can waged bragging right, goodies, chores, or whatever you like but it really makes watching the Super Bowl even more fun for avid football fans and novices alike. The questions can be anything. Check out these questions from last year's event, http://www.officepickem.com/superbowlquestions/ All you need to do is modify some of them to make them relevant to this year's Super Bowl.

What are some of your favorite things to do or serve at your Super Bowl party?

After you choose your wedding dress, you'll probably start thinking about what accessories will look best with your gorgeous gown. Many brides select very traditional pieces, but what if you want to showcase more of your own personality and style? Well then my dear, then go in search of accessories that speak to your fashion soul. Go with your gut and wear what love.
    The Dress
Before we talk about the jazzy accessories you might like to select, you might want to decide on your dress. Would you like it to be more traditional, or a little out of the ordinary. You can always play around with adding colorful embellishments, going with vintage, raising the hemline and much more. Be sure that you select a gown you LOVE and makes you feel like a bride.
    The Shoes
Bridal shoes generally peek out only slightly from the bottom of the wedding gown. More and more brides are having a lot of fun by putting their personal flare and funky style into their bridal shoe selection. At weddings today, you are likely to find glittery sneakers or pumps, brightly colored heels or ballet flats, beautifully embellished cowboy boots, and much more!
    The Accessories
Bridal jewelry and other wedding accessories are another way that brides can really show off their personal style. Bold necklaces are very popular for brides who choose a strapless gown. However, some of these brides choose to forgo neck adornment and instead go for a striking pair of drop earrings. Many brides today are also losing the veil and instead selecting beautifully ornate hair pieces, or using a blusher.
There are so many ways that brides can showcase their personal style. Brides, don't go with what you think people expect you to have or wear, instead choose what makes you (and your groom) happy. When all is said and done YOU will be left with those wonderful memories of how perfectly authentic your big day was.
  • Garnets: January's Birthstone

Full of rich color, our Sterling Silver
    Red Garnet Chandelier Earrings feature
genuine garnet stones and beads set in solid

People born in the month of January are very fortunate to have such a wonderfully diverse gemstone designated for their birth month. Garnets are deeply saturated in history and lore. It has been worn by kings and queens, knights, high priests, and regular folks too. This beautiful gemstone has adorned some very famous jewelry pieces and also used as an abrasive to smooth rough edges.

The word garnet is derived from the Latin word "granum" meaning "grain". The most common color is a deep rich red color and the "grain" that it most closely resembles is the pomegranate seed. Garents are a very durable gemstone, suitable for everyday wear. They come in as a 7-7.5 on the  Moh's scale of hardness.

Designed for drama, our Sterling Silver
Red Garnet Leaf Ring features genuine red
garnet stones set in solid sterling silver.

Garnets are found in a wide array of colors; green (tsavorite), Christmas red (anthill), bright yellow to yellowish-orange (spessertite), orange (hessontite) -- in fact it was once thought that the only color garnet could not be found in in blue. However, in the early 1990's it was discovered in in Bekily, Madagascar and has since been found in other areas as well. It occurs only very rarely.

Our Sterling Silver Red Garnet Ring features
a radiant red garnet oval stone. Rope design edge
    is detailed and unique.

Garnets have been thought to bring healing, protection and strength to stones who wear this beautiful stone. In addition, presumably thanks to it's most famous deep blood red color, it is believed to regulate the heart and blood flow. Garnet has also long been used as a symbol of friendship. In fact, according to legend, if you wear garnets they will improve your personal relationships and protect you from harm -- and that benefit DOUBLES if you are born in the month of January!

  • New Year's Resolutions: Set Yourself Up for Success!

Are you making a New Year's Resolution this year? Sometimes we make these resolutions only to let them fall by the wayside a few short months later. So, what are somethings you can do to ensure that you really stick to your goals this year? How do you make sure that you will be successful? Well, today on the CharmingChick blog, and just in time for the holiday, we have some tips that will set you up for success so you will see your resolution through until you get to where you want to be!

First of all, it's important to note that most people who set New Year's Resolutions will abandon them in the first 6 months. Actually, this article says that actually 88% of people will fail in their resolutions. Sounds pretty depressing right? So, what's the point in even making a resolution? The point is YOU are not everyone and if you follow these simple tips and really commit yourself to your goals (which is really what a resolution is anyway) you WILL be successful!

TIPS for Sticking to Your New Year's Resolution

    1. Write down your goals -- It is always a great idea to write down your goals. Be very specific about what you want to accomplish, start small and work up to your ultimate goal. Give yourself daily, weekly, monthly and then your yearly goal.

    2. Be your own motivation! -- No one is going to come over everyday and knock you over the head with motivation. The first thing you need to realized is that the only person you are letting down by giving up too quickly is yourself.

    3. Reward yourself for a job well done! -- Make Sure you celebrate the little milestones you accomplish along the way to meeting your ultimate goal. Be sure to pat yourself on the back.

    4. Post your resolutions -- Put your goals up where you can see them throughout the day. This will serve as a perpetual reminder and encourage you to move forward.

    5. Change your behaviors -- Whatever your resolution, make sure you set yourself up for success. Don't put yourself in situations that will cause you to fail. If you want to eat healthier, don't fill your cupboards with junk food. If you want to quit smoking, you'll have to change your daily pattern up a bit so you fill the time you normally would have been smoking, with healthier habits. Just make better choices that will help you in the long run.

  • New Years Chic ~ By CharmingChick

    New Years Chic
The beginning of 2013 is just a few days away! Have you started planning what you are going to do to ring in the New Year -- and even more importantly what you are going to wear? Today on the CharmingChick blog, we are going to talk fashion. More specifically, New Years Eve fashion. So what are some of the dos and don'ts for dressing up for the New Year?
    Bling, Bling
To ring in the New Year, you'll definitely want some bling BUT beware -- too much glitter and sequins can have you looking like a 12-year-old. So choose one of two dazzling pieces -- a dress, a skirt, some eye shadow with a touch of glitter, shoes, etc. Then choose a couple of statement pieces of jewelry and you are ready to sparkly your way into the new year!
    Downsize
You don't want to carry your everyday bag into your New Years Eve celebration. It is much easier, and more stylish, to take in an elegant clutch. You can fill it with just a few necessities; lip gloss, powder, your cell, your driver's license and anything else you may need for the night.
Wear your Sky High Stilettos (but bring some flats just in case)
Oh,what we women endure in the name of fashion. You'll no doubt want to wear your most fashionable and fabulous heels. You can probably make it through the evening wearing them but it's a very good idea to bring some equally stylish flats  -- for when your dogs start barking. Even if you can't bring yourself to put them on at the party, you may want to secretly slip them on for the ride home.
    Little Black Dress?
Of course a little black dress is always a great "go-to" item. You can dress it up with gorgeous accessories and really make it stand out from the crowd. Add an embellished belt, an elegant and colorful pashmina, dazzling jewelry pieces or anything else you can use to take your style up to the next level.
Whatever you do, be comfortable, be fabulous and be yourself.
    Happy New Year!
